and if they installed a reliable short wave,

the traffic would probably be doubled, and -

co-operation on the part of Canton - messages could be clear-

ed without delay. So far as Hong Kong is concerned no extra

plant would be required; our existing short wave sets should

be able to cope with the work. It would, however, be

necessary to fill certain posts - now vacant allowed for

on the W/T side in the 1927 Estimates. At all events these

posts will have to be filled in the near future on account

of the general increase in W/T traffic.
